FUNCTIONAL BUT ENGAGING SPACES FOR AN ACTIVE FAMILY.

A foundation in poor shape scuttled early plans to remodel the existing house on the property. A steep drop-off to a dry-weather creek along with strict neighborhood guidelines on house size created the first challenge in the design of this home.

For this active family of 5 with three boys, all involved in different sports and activities, functionality was at the root of every design decision made. While we wanted to create a space that took into account every soccer ball, golf club and Lego, we didn’t want to sacrifice design. Bringing in depth through tile, lighting and wallcoverings we fulfilled the client’s wish of creating a unique, artistic, but playful tone, harboring a deep sense of comfort as a home for a family. 

The lot features amazing Live Oaks so windows were meticulously placed in each room to allow an abundance of light to flood the space and provide a treehouse feel throughout.
